  • Rihanna Drive

    “One, two, one, two/some dreams stay dreams, some dreams come true!” The hook on Nas’ stellar cut, “Still Dreaming,” featuring Kanye West and Chrisette Michele is what instantly came to mind while writing this story. Why you might ask? Well, Rihanna was recently honored with her very own street and only a select few of historical figures in the entertainment industry have received this particular accolade. 

    Coined, “Rihanna Drive,” the wild, wild, wild songstress’ commemorative road—formerly known as Westbury New Road—is located in the town of St. Michael in Barbados. The unveiling ceremony of RiRi's street took place on November 30th, the same day as Barbado's Independence day.

    Furthermore, 'Rihanna Drive' holds a plaque which includes the superstar crooner's personal statement: "Welcome to Rihanna Drive...My home.  My whole life was shaped on this very road.  I was just a little island girl riding bikes, running around barefoot and flying kites in the cemetery, but I had BIG dreams.  Dreams that were born and realized here," she states.  Damn, must be nice to milly rock on your own block!

    As I always say on here, "all is possible," so I hope that all of you are doing your best to materialize your wildest desires.

  • 73 Questions With Michael B. Jordan

    I’m all about interviewing the most interesting artists (shameless #FrendyOriginals plug), so it’s always a treat to indulge in a new episode of Vogue’s 73 Questions series.

    This time around, the prestigious fashion and lifestyle magazine chopped it up real quick with rising Hollywood leading man Michael B. Jordan. During the unconventional inquiry session, Michael talks about his workout routine, celebrity crush, role in the upcoming Black Panther movie, and many more interesting facts we might not know about him.

    It's really inspiring to witness Jordan's acting career take off from the free throw line.  I remember watching him on ABC 's All My Children back in the day, and it was honestly my very first time seeing a young, braided up black kid in any type of soap opera.  You could imagine how I felt when I (also with braids at the time) landed several appearances on One Life To Live, not too long after his contract ended with AMC.  All is possible!

  • Rag & Bone x Star Wars

    When a fashion line receives a trailer for its forthcoming collaboration, you already know the hype is real! American label Rag & Bone has recently unveiled a fascinating clip detailing their stylish joint venture with Disney that coincides with the release of Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

    The teaser displays R&B’s CEO and creative genius Marcus Wrainwright articulating his passion for the George Lucas brainchild and the inner workings behind the designs. “I have always been a huge fan of Star Wars and it has been awesome to create a collection which coincides not only with the launch of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, but also with the 40th anniversary of the franchise, “ states Wrainwright.  “We wanted the pieces to feel like something that referenced Star Wars but also fitted that Rag & Bone aesthetic—like a modern Jedi.”

    What Marcus was basically saying is that the sci-fi capsule collection ain’t a regular movie merch ting!  It consists of intricate apparel and accessories for men and women, ranged from $95 all the way up to $1,295.

    Only 100 of each product was produced so be sure to head over to select Rag & Bone locations, their official website and even shopdisney.com to pick up your limited piece, as they release on December 1st.  That way you'll be able to watch the movie in celestial steez in theaters on December 15th.

  • Top Boy Drizzy

    Drake’s infatuation with UK culture is further expressed with his latest stunt, as he’ll be receiving producing credits for the revival of the British cult series, Top Boy.

    Now, let me ask this question: Do you even know what a “Top Boy” actually is?  Well, I didn’t either until I did some research, but it apparently means the leader of a particular clique or gang. The show itself, based in Hackney, London, is a crime drama that chronicles the life of main characters Sully, Dushane and Ra’nell’s dealings with the drug underworld. 

    The highly respected episodic ran for only 2 seasons, but thanks to the 6 God and some very powerful friends, it’ll be resurrected after a six-year absence on Netflix in 2019.

  • Brother Love

    When you’re rich and successful like Sean Combs, you can virtually do anything that your heart desires—including name changes. Yes, I know, anyone can legally change his/her name but how many of them can deliberately make the citizens of earth refer to them as whoever they please, without any prior government procedures?

    In honor of his 48th birthday, the multitalented mogul daringly decided to drop his latest moniker “Diddy” in exchange for a more amicable name: “Love” or “Brother Love.” Mr. Combs took to Instagram to declare his new handle in the beautiful setting of Copacabana beach, stating “I been praying on this, I decided...I know it’s risky, I know it could come off as corny to some people. Like yo, I decided to change my name again.” He further went on to brazenly admit that he’s a new man and the new nickname is more suitable.

    Congrats to "Brother Love," for having such a legendary career.  Let's see how long this name will last!  I'm sure Ben Stiller won't have a hard time forgetting this one. (If the reference went over your head, check out the clip below):

  • Chicken Beef

    All hail the Burger King!

    The Jacksonville, Florida-originated fast food chain has reached new levels of greasy pettiness as it plans to sell spicy chicken nuggets after Wendy’s discontinued the savory item earlier this year.

    It doesn’t seem like Burger King committed a flagrant offense, right?  Guess again. Not only did BK deebo (look that up in the urban dictionary, one time) Dave Thomas’ brainchild’s most clutch offering, the burger joint is slated to gift one 10-piece order of their chicken nugget iteration to all customers named “Wendy ”- savagery I tell ya!

     

    The unorthodox giveaway will commence on October 13 at all participating Wendy’s for a limited time in New York City, Los Angeles, and Miami.  If you aren't legally named “Wendy,” make sure to have some chunk change on deck for the nugget’s $1.49 price tag.

  • Pharrell's Youngest Interviewer

    Man, I honestly thought I was a superb interviewer until I saw this seven-year-old do her thang!

    Meet Poppy Browne, a pint-sized, expert interrogator who received the chance of a lifetime to interview Mr. Happy himself, Pharrell Williams.  The visual of their heart-warming interaction will leave you with a sense of relief from all the drama happening in the world today.

  • Bella Hadid Goes Sneaker Shopping

    Gotdamn! No wonder her parents named her “Bella,” ‘cause shorty’s bad as hell!

    The stylish supermodel is the latest celebrity to cop kicks on Complex's Sneaker Shopping series, and I must say this might be one of my favorite episodes yet.  Besides the obvious, the reason I say this is because it's refreshing to see someone of her stature be so childlike and appreciative of the opportunity to serve as a guest. Plus, it was pretty comical to see all the guys (both KITH employees and even Joe La Puma) get a bit googly-eyed over the flirty bombshell.

  • Frendy's Flashback Friday

    On September 29th, 1996 Nintendo unleashed the Nintendo 64.  Technically, the game console was released two days prior on September 26th despite being advertised for the 29th.

    Nintendo 64 was launched with two games, Pilotwings 64 and Super Mario 64.

  • The Three Amigos

    So, Lebron James, Drake and Chris Bosh walk into a bar……...oh, you expected me to finish the joke?  Sorry to burst your bubble but I’m not a pro comedian. What I can say, though, is that the three amigos did have an amazing conversation at Fring's in Toronto.

    As part of Lebron's UNINTERRUPTED program, the trio caught up and spoke about their camaraderie and rise to glory.  As you'll see, Drizzy was right about the 'no new friends' ting all along.

  • Tremaine Emory Talks Virgil x Nike Air Jordan 1s

    Virgil Abloh’s much-anticipated “The Ten” sneakers collaboration with Nike is scheduled to go on presale from September 9 through 13 as part of this year’s New York Fashion Week festivities.

    As most you know, the Off-White designer has been dishing out his personalized, reconstructed Air Jordan 1’s to major celebrity pals from all crevices of the entertainment industry. Tremaine Emory, one of the hand-picked recipients and co-creator of the No Vacancy Inn imprint, recently spoke to award-winning fashion website, ShowStudio, to talk about his camaraderie with Virgil and deep significance behind the pair gifted to him.

  • Dress Like McGregor

    “F@%k the Mayweathers!” is what I always think of Conor McGregor saying whenever I see him. 

    Although the famed mixed martial artist lost the blockbuster battle against Pretty Boy” Floyd on August 26th In Vegas, he still left the boxing ring with a charming load of cash-approximately a disclosed purse of $30 million, according to the salary information released by the Nevada Athletic Commission to MMA Fighting.  With his name solidified in UFC fighting history, “The Notorious” (all respects to Biggie Smalls) is extending the McGregor brand in a slew of lucrative methods, which includes a clothing brand.

    Called August McGregor, the line is a joint business venture between Conor and David August Heil, the creator of the scandalous “F@%k You” pinstripe suit.  It will cater to the gentleman of the world by offering dress shirts, suits and accessories all ranging from $500 to $1200 USD.

    August McGregor’s initial collection won’t drop until January 2018, so fellas y’all have enough time to cut up in order to fit the garments properly.

  • REN Active

    Alexis Ren, one of the hottest public figures on social media, has just unveiled her new line of workout gear.

    Aptly named REN Active, the sexy sportswear brand is made in partnership with Touché L.A. founders Karl and Jaynee Singer.  The bodacious bombshell admitted to Vogue: “I hate when I don’t have my reserve of good workout clothes, to me when you just throw on an old bra to work out, it just doesn’t give you that same feeling,” so she made sure her active line consisted of pieces that enhanced sex appeal and overall workout experience.  They include transparent cut out body suits, thigh-exposing mesh leggings and branded tops that can be even worn casually. 

    Unfortunately, the gear will not automatically bless you with Alexis’ out-of-this world physique once worn, but at least you can work your ass off in sultry style to achieve the ultimate goal.

  • Fit Battle

    HighSnobiety has solidified their fashionable presence on Instagram with the creation of the #snobshots hashtag, where swagged-out individuals all over the world can showcase their flashiest threads.  The popular blog is now tightening their grip on everything  “youth style” with a new video series called, Fit Battle.

    Hosted and produced by Highsnobiety’s Editorial Director by Jian DeLeon, the platform serves as yet another outlet for the Internet’s flyest to flex—this time in a heated battle against an opponent with (arguably) equally fire fits. On the judging panel is stylist Corey Stokes, fashion editor Nico Amarca, and guest judge Alex Kasavin, founder of Brooklyn boutique IDOL. 

    You probably won’t catch me as a constestant on the show, simply because I pretty much rock the same clothes everyday. But that doesn’t mean my flyness is any less than the rest though!

  • Netflix and Smoke

    Netflix has made life so much easier for couch potatoes (I mean that in the nicest way possible) around the world to lounge with their vast library of television shows and films.  Now, the American entertainment company is enhancing the enjoyment of your “Netflix and chill” session with a little bit of a smoke. * Cues that Drake song *

    Last weekend the popular streaming company debuted its own line of cannabis strains—aptly dubbed “The Netflix Collection”—during a promotional event for their marijuana-inspired comedy series, “Disjointed,” held at the Alternative Herbal Health Services dispensary based in West Hollywood.

    The strains are marketing gems, as their names are inspired by the company’s favored shows: Banana Stand Kush (Arrested Development), Poussey Riot (Orange is the New Black), Moon 13 (Mystery Science Theater 3000), Prickly Muffin (Bojack Horseman), Camp Firewood (Wet Hot American Summer: 10 years later), and many more.

    Weed remains illegal under federal law so Netflix is certainly not profiting from sales. Cannabis, under current California law, can be purchased only by those 21 or over with a medical marijuana recommendation from a California-licensed doctor.

  • The Urna Necklace

    I am pleased to present a new accessory made by my brother Yussuf Kassim Manzi in collaboration with Lotus Apparel.

    Titled, “Urna,” the gold necklace features a pendant that replicates the face of Buddha. “In my eyes, it's the dopest juxtaposition and irony, a symbol of peace that's presented in a materialistic way--which I believe fashion and art is all about,” says Yussuf.

     

    The Tanzanian-born designer and I met during my time working in SoHo. During our initial encounter, I abruptly sensed we were going to be great friends due to his calm and genuine nature.  Fast forward 5 years and here we are, still connecting and building a meaningful camaraderie. “I was blessed with the opportunity to meet my brother Frendy. If you're fortunate enough to meet someone in your life that brings some sort of enlightenment, cherish him or her, because it's extremely rare to come by,” states Yussuf. “After building a strong relationship with Frendy, he presented a book to me, which I still read to this day called “The Tao of Inner Peace,” By Diane Dreher. Never in my life have I ever been presented with such positive energy, ironically in New York and especially in a culture where ego and flashiness makes up most of the package.”

     

    The harmonious theme behind Manzi’s latest collaborative project was actually inspired by the very same book I shared with him. He hopes this necklace presents itself as an opportunity for people to learn more about themselves. Furthermore, a percentage from every purchase will go into an environmentally conscious foundation to preserve our Earth.

     

    “Thankfully I'm able to say that this chain is more for the people than myself,” Yussuf adds.  “ What we give is what we get back, and what the universe gave me is priceless, this is the least that I can do.”

  • Get Your McSwag On

    McDonald's already has our hungry stomachs on lock with their affordable delectables, but now the fast food giant is setting its sights on taking over our closets (for one day, at least).

    To commemorate the global launch of #McDelivery, their joint venture with UberEATS that will allow delivery across North America, McDonald's will release an extremely limited run of merch on July 26th for free!

    One item from the McDelivery Collection will be obtained by customers when using the delivery option booked exclusively through the UberEATS app. The Mickey-Dee's branded pieces include "World Famous" french fries jogging suits, Big Mac hoodies, Big Mac pillow cases, a burger and fries picnic basket, sandals, and more.

    For the fashion heads *coughs* hypebeasts *coughs* out there who are tired of catching those annoying leg cramps from standing in abnormally long queues, Zurich-based company Noonee has conjured up a contraption that might interest you.

    Coined Chairless Chair, the application serves as a wearable sitting support.  It was primarily made for manufacturing company employees who are required to work on their feet for a considerable amount of time in tight spaces, but it can be quite useful for extremely dedicated shoppers as well (haha).

  • The Ball Family Goes Sneaker Shopping

    Hate it or love it the underdogs on top!  The Ball boys aren't necessarily "unlikely winners," but with the constant slick-yappin of their dad, Lonzo, LiAngelo and LaMelo might catch the short end of the stick.

  • Odell Beckham Jr's Historic Sneaker Deal

    With his buddy Victor Cruz out of the picture, Odell Beckham, Jr becomes the Big Blue's biggest star on and off the field.

    According to Nicekicks, the flashy wide receiver has just signed an historic shoe deal with Nike, which is said to be worth more than $29 million over a 5-year length!  As a result, Beckham will become a larger brand spokesman for Nike, including campaigns outside of football.

    The gigantic footwear and accesories company re-signed the New York Giants icon after an intense bidding war with Adidas.  Much credit is due to Odell's agent Zeke Sandhu and his business manager/momma Heather Van Norman for sealing the deal.

    Watching the latest installment of Complex's Sneaker Shopping series with ASAP Ferg takes me back to my days at BAPE, when all of the ASAP members would roll through the shop to check out our latest bapestas.

    Ferg has now achieved massive success, so it's pretty dope to see him cop whatever he pleases.

  • The Method To Bow Wow's Madness

    Just a few days ago, Bow Wow was "caught" in a lie on social media, as he posted a deceiving picture of a private jet, with a caption stating that he was heading to NYC for a press run.  Seems pretty regular for a guy of his stature to do right?  Well,  shortly after the flick went live, someone posted a picture of Mr. 106 & Park himself, all cozied up on a commercial flight (haha).

    Shad is definitely doing press for his forthcoming reality show, Growing Up Hip Hop Atlanta, but as far as his PJ incident, well, you'll see his explanation for that debacle during a sitdown with Hot 97 's Ebro In The Morning show below:

  • Just Don x Air Jordan 2 "Arctic Orange"

    Don C has always been a stand-up guy, which is why it isn't such a huge surprise he is doing so well in his personal business ventures. (It helps that he's pretty fresh also.)  After releasing two successful sneakers with Jordan Brand, Kanye's close comrade is getting ready to launch his third, and most exclusive, kicks yet with the Just Don x Air Jordan 2 Arctic Orange.

    Unfortunately, the Chicago-bred designer's latest footwear will only be available in grade school and big kid's sizes.  In a recent press release, Don explained why he decided to make the sizes so limited by stating: "My family couldn’t participate in the last couple of Jordan releases, so it felt good to allow them to take part. This collaboration is not only for my blood family but my extended family — all my friends. I am excited to put family first for this drop and expand my Jordan collaboration to everyone."

  • Master of None Season 2

    After an excrutiating year and a half wait,  comic Aziz Ansari and writer Alan Yang are scheduled to finally unleash the second season of Master of None, on May 12th!

    The Netflix-original comedy has kept me sane during the early period of my departure from BAPE, where I worked at forever (haha).  Dev's (Ansari's character) struggle to identify what he really wanted out of life resonated with me, as I was figuring out my own concrete path into the career that I loved.  I'm sure season 2 is packed with even more comical, real life-mirroring situations.

  • In Late, Out Early EP

    I am happy to present the much-awaited EP of my good friend Chris Stylez.

    Titled In Late, Out Early, the Los Angeles-based singer/songwriter's project consists of six addictive tracks that'll have you hooked after just one listen.  With the short attention span of today's listeners, Chris knows it is imperative to instantly capture their undivided attention by providing undeniable, soul-caressing sounds.  No GMO tunes here––just organic melodies from the heart.

    Slipknot 's very own Sid Wilson is the only featured artist on Stylez's latest body of work, while the homie Dan Smith and Mike Donaldson served as Producers.

  • Drake To Host Inaugural NBA Awards

    Drake confessed on his More Life standout track titled "Sacrifices," that ever since he made...well sacrifices, he's been balling ever since.  Ghostwriter or not, 'the boy' wasn't lying as he is set to host the inaugural NBA Awards.

    The slam-dunking news was announced earlier this morning via the National Basketball Association and Drizzy himself through Instagram story (might of been his first ever insta-story too, I'm not sure).  

    The award ceremony will be showcased live on TNT live from New York City's own Pier 36 aka Basketball City on June 26. Keep your eyes peeled for that!

  • Sneaker Shopping With Iverson

    NBA legend Allen Iverson took some time off to go Sneaker Shopping with Complex's Joe La Puma at Lapstone & Hammer in Philadelphia.

    Before copping an array of Reebok sneakers, the braided-up hall of famer spoke about the influence of Hip Hop in Basketball, his first pair of good sneakers bought by mom dukes, and love for Michael Jordan.  Luckily, Joe didn't ask him any questions about "practice" because who needs that when you're already one of the goats, right?

  • Pharrell & Tyler Cookin' Up In The Stu

    Music titans Pharrell Williams and Tyler, The Creator was recently spotted in the studio for the first time this year.  The two were seen working via Pharrell's Snapchat on Wednesday, with the audio cut off of course. Looking forward to hear what they're cooking up.

     P.S  Shout out to the Golf Wang general, I saw him during the last day of Luka's "Hot Mess" art exhibit at Milk Studios earlier last month.  He recognized me from my days working at Nigo's former shop in SOHO.

  • KAWS x Air Jordan 4

    Damn, these kicks are way too fresh!  KAWS took to Instagram to tease us all with an official image of his collaboration with Air Jordan.  The beloved New York Based graphic designer and artist initially delivered the news of his epic joint venture with the Jordan brand back in January.

    The sneaker used for the project is the Jordan 4 model, which is entirely covered in grey suede.  Furthermore, KAWS' famous "XX" tag is found at the shoe's heels, rightfully taking over the jumpman logo.  It was rumored to released on March 1st but you know how that goes!  

    Stay tuned for more details on the kick's release date.  While you're patiently waiting, feel free to cop my new hoodie, it matches the KAWS x Jordan 4 joints perfectly don't you think?

  • Emily Gets Sweaty With Chantel Jeffries

    Emily Oberg may have left her full time gig at Complex to become the creative lead for KITH Women, but she still makes time to 'Get Sweaty ' with the hottest stars in the entertainment industry.

    Emily's latest celebrity guest on her sporty show is none other than the scorching Chantel Jeffries. Besides getting to know about Chantel's forthcoming fashion collection, interesting love for school, and DJ beginnings, we get an eyeful of the "prison style" *coughs* thirst trappy *coughs* workouts that she and her former foe participated in.

  • It's All About Sage

    Supreme's ultimate "It" boy Sage Elsesser recently sat down with GQ for a quick, yet informative interview about his newfound fame as a model, style choices, shoe collaboration with Converse and more.

    I actually saw Sage this past Saturday at KITH 's subway-packed Broadway shop, as he was patiently waiting on line to cop their famous treats.  Despite the vast amount of people at the store, the uber-talented skateboarder managed to remain low.  As a matter of fact, it almost seemed like he was internally wishing nobody noticed him (haha).

    Much respect to Sage for his ability to remain chill, despite the all the success that is coasting towards him (saw what I did there?).  Check out the article HERE.

  • Pharrell Doll

    We all know Pharrell Williams is an avid art collector so it's only suitable that he became one himself.  If what I just wrote went over your head, I simply meant to imply that the mega-superstar has been immortalized into an incredibly life-like doll!

    As part of their Real Action Heroes line (RAH), Medicom Toy paid homage to Skateboard P by turning him into an action figure.  The Japanese brand is known for making art pieces rather than conventional toys, and this particular figure continues to prove just that.  Threaded in his memorable 2014 Grammy Award getup, the doll is also fully equipped with Pharrell's accessories, including his watch, bracelet, carabiner and of course Vivienne Westwood aka Arby's hat (just a joke, sorry OG).

    Recently, Mr. Percy Miller paid a visit to The Breakfast Club and dropped some much needed knowledge to the masses, especially to young artists who are trying to legitimately leave their mark in the music industry.  Percy speaks on various subjects such as the value of hardwork, today's political climate and doubters on social media.  "I don’t care about social media. Most of the people on social media…if you got time to be on social media we know you don’t have nothing positive going on. You just negative, you a hater," states P.  Sounds pretty harsh I know, which is why I think he clarified his statement by sayingthink about it, if you talk about somebody and you know you’re not where you need to be at.  That’s what I’m saying, it’s a waste of time.  So I try to motivate the next generation through social media."  Mr. Miller also brought along his artists, singer Paloma Ford and 17-year-old rising rap sensation Marcus Clae to the show.

    Shout out to Solange who handpicked P to talk his sh*t on her critically acclaimed A Seat at The Table, album because the man truly is a living representation of someone who made it from the dirt, on his very own terms.

  • This Is Gosha

    I was initially exposed to Gosha Rubchinskiy’s eponymous label through A$AP Rocky, who sported the brand’s flag print hooded sweatshirt and striped sweatpants during his exhilarating mash-up performance with rap-rock group 21 Pilots, at the 2015 VMAs. 

    At first glance, I thought the self-proclaimed PMF was attempting to bring back the nostalgia of Tommy Hilfiger clothing, but in actuality the graphic on the hoodie’s chest was a flip of the American apparel company’s iconic logo, which featured a conjoined Russian and Chinese flag with Cyrillic script on its borders.  Intrigued by the Hilfiger-inspired top, I dove into the mysterious world of Gosha and was instantly captivated by his brand’s deep Russian roots.

    Rubchinskiy, an equally talented Photographer and Filmmaker, was born and raised in Moscow.  As a child growing up during the ending stages of the USSR, he had big dreams of becoming a creative in the music and fashion realm.  “After school, all my classmates went to Stroganov College to study classical art or graphic design, but I wasn’t interested in it. I was into this world of fashion and clubs, but there was no university for that,” says Gosha to contemporary culture magazine 032c. “ It took ages to decide what to do, and finally I enrolled in college to become a hairdresser and a makeup artist, because I thought it was at least somehow connected with fashion.”

    After graduating from the Moscow College of Technology and Design, Gosha worked as a Stylist and Costume Designer for films and mingled with the Fashion elite in Russia.  Underwhelmed by the lack of diversity and energy of his city’s fashion industry, Gosha took a liking to the vibrancy of the youth- Skateboarders, in particular. "About ten years ago, skateboarding emerged as one of the main subcultures for Russia's youth and I've looked to it ever since,” he admits to I-D Magazine.  "I was drawn to this new energy. I started hanging with this group, spent all my time with them; we skated, we partied, took trips to other cities. It was a special time, one in which I took many photos and shot a number of videos. I needed to do something to capture the energy. I needed to share it.” Not only did Gosha document his newfound admiration, it compelled him to start a clothing brand, which represented the unique style of post-soviet youth culture. 

    During the summer of 2008, Gosha began making clothes that mixed Russian elements with the Western skate and punk aesthetics. Rubchinskiy’s first collection was completely DIY, consisting of inexpensive T-shirts, fruit of the loom sweatshirts and denim jackets.  With the backing of his friend and former owner of the Solyanka nightclub in Moscow, Gosha was able to rent a sports stadium for his first local show.  Although the spectacle was a success (600 people were in attendance), there was no concrete fashion infrastructure behind it.

    In 2009, the Russian menswear designer received his first big break as he was selected by former Russian Vogue fashion editor Anna Dyulgerova, to be a part of her alternate fashion week show called Cycles and Seasons.  The presentation, held at a sports hall converted from a church, exposed Rubchinskiy to international media publications.  In 2010, Gosha was invited to London Fashion Week, where he displayed a 12-piece collection with his very own funds.  Flustered by the lack of a team and money, Rubchinskiy decided to give the Fashion world a break. In an interview with Business of Fashion, he states: “It’s very difficult to start a fashion label in Moscow. Good fabrics are expensive and customs rules are very strict.  I started thinking that fashion for me was over.”

    Luckily for Gosha, Dyulgerova introduced him to Adrian Joffe, president of Comme des Garçon and the mastermind behind Dover Street Market, who was delighted to sell his collection at DSM. Adrian always loved Russia and was moved by the pulsating post soviet movement, so Gosha was the perfect designer to display in his shop.  Unfortunately, after the special capsule for DSM was made Rubchinskiy faced yet another financial disaster. All of Gosha’s items sold out but all of his profit went to production, logistics and of course customs.  Remarkably, after Gosha broke the news that he wasn’t able to complete another collection for the shop, Adrian offered to produce and market Gosha’s clothes through CDG.  Furthermore, Rubchinskiy was given the creative freedom to design whatever he pleased. The Gosha x Comme des Garçons partnership officially began in 2012.

    With the aid of CDG, Gosha debuted his brand’s Spring/Summer 2015 collection during Paris Fashion Week 2014. Since then, Rubchinskiy has truly transformed into a cult favorite! His label can now be found in more than 116 stores around the world.  Not to mention, Gosha has collaborated with a plethora of top tier brands such as Supreme, Reebok and Vans. On November 2016, Rubchinskiy unleashed his very first fragrance inspired by the Skate culture titled, “The Perfect Summer Weekend.”

    The multi-talented designer will be presenting his Fall/Winter 2017 Collection for the first time in two and a half years in Russia-his home country.  The outing will take place in Kaliningrad, which sits between Poland and Lithuania along the Baltic Coast.  No other information has been revealed about the much-anticipated showcase, but we do know that it will all go down in January.

  • Pharrell Meets The Breakfast Club

    Thanks to his involvement in the inspirational film Hidden Figures, Pharrell Williams has finally broke his Breakfast Club studio cherry!

    The megastar musician recently visited Charlamagne da God and Angela Yee (DJ Envy was unable to make it) at their humble workplace to discuss the star-studded NASA drama, his secret anti-aging secrets, politics, and even the "slave master" mentality of the music business.

  • LoveSick (Official Video)

    I'm a bit late in posting this but it probably went under your radar as well.

    Last month, multi-talented British electronic producer Mura Masa, unleashed the music video for his A$AP Rocky assisted jam titled "Love$ick."  The clip did not receive any sort of cameo from the two artists, but impressively displayed a coming of age storyline, filled with disruptive British teens in their cozy Nike fleece tech suits.

  • Interview With A Nightlife Vampire (Trailer)

    Merlin Bronques recently unleashed a babe-filled trailer of his forthcoming documentary titled, Interview With A Nightlife Vampire.

    For those who aren't in the know, the Canadian creative is a genius when it comes to capturing the very essence of a popping party.  Merlin's forthcoming release will be yet another visual display of his uncanny ability to penetrate the "awkward" barrier, which ultimately transforms a total stranger into his very own personal muse (still trying to figure out how he does it).

    Alongside an assortment of modelesque scene girls, the 37-second teaser features Major Lazer and Theophilus London, as they are showcased doing what they do best.

    Bronques has not stated the project's release date, but I'm sure its not too far away for our viewing pleasure.  For now, check out the clip below:

  • NYC OVO Flagship Store

    Well, the moment all of the east coast Drizzy fans have been patiently waiting for has finally arrived.  Oliver El-Khatib and Drake's prospering OVO clothing line will finally be opening a New York City flagship store!

    The news was unveiled on the brand's official Instagram page, which featured a flick showcasing a slew of the Halloween gang members cladded in blue and white OVO owl emblem hoodies, with the caption: "#NYWELCOMEOVO 12.10.16. " 

    The crew hasn't officially stated they will actually debut an NYC brick-and-mortar shop on the 10th, but one can rightfully assume that it is going to happen.  Especially after the suspenseful clip that was unleashed yesterday.

  • OTHERtone Episode 34

    Pharrell Williams and Scott Vener always have the best guests on OTHERtone, but the latest group of individuals that sat down with them may have been their coolest ones yet!

    While in Japan, the Beats 1 radio show duo took the time out to speak with one of my icons Nigo, Takashi Murakami, and the most creative couple from the far east Verbal & Yoon.  During the episode,  Pharrell talks about how he was initially aquainted with the former Ape general. "He should be frozen," states P as he discussed the ethereal coolness of his longtime friend.  Furthermore, Verbal & Yoon briefly spoke about their love of subcultures and Ambush jewelry store, while Takashi recalled his art project with Kanye West.

  • Amir Obe Signs With Def Jam

    Congratulations to Amir Obe for landing a deal with Def Jam !

    I'm happy to see that Amir has found a prestigious home to produce even more eargasmic tunes. I have known the Brooklyn-by-way-of-Detroit Rapper since he went by the moniker of Phreshy Duzit, and even featured a slew of his old music videos on my previous blog. This momentous occasion is a true testament of his relentless grind!

    In honor of Obe's major label signing, he unleashed the visual to his moody cut titled "No Peace."  In an interview with Billboard, Amir explains the clip by saying: "I wanted to capture the vibe of 'No Peace' visually, and I think we executed providing a journey, a sense of no looking back."  Furthermore, the single is included on Def Jam's all star compilation album called Direct Deposit 1, which will be available on December 2nd.

  • The Bootleg Babe

    As crappy as America may seem, we must not forget our precious ability to have freedom of expression in the arts and entertainment. New York City based artist Ava Nirui is exercising those very rights in her fashion approach.

    The multi talented 25-year-old creative is throwing stones at the fashion industry's spotless glass house by making her very own emoji-heart eyes inducing bootleg clothing, utilizing luxury brand logos.  "The fashion world is so set in it's ways, why not challenge its rigidity?" says Ava to W Magazine.

    Nirui's initial venture in bootlegging began a year ago when she formulated swagged-out outfits for Barbie dolls inspired by unisex brands, such as Hood By Air, Vetements and Marques Almeida.  Since then, Ava has applied her stylistic mad scientist ways to shoes, basketballs and even an asthma inhaler!

    Her latest latest masterpiece is a series of Champion hoodies fused together with high fashion brands like Christian Dior,Versace, Gucci and more.  A few days ago, Ava released her Gucci x Champion bootleg ($200), which signified the very first time she has sold anything publicly.  

    Unfortunately, they're all sold out.  Hopefully we'll see more of Ava's wonderful creations available for sale on her webstore during the holiday season!

  • The Nutella Burger

    McDonald's truly has a knack for enticing us with it's guilty pleasures.  The fast-food chain's latest addition is taking their allure to a higher level of indulgence.

    Allow me to introduce The Sweety Con Nutella Burger. Nope, this isn't an April Fool's joke (we're not even in April anyway),  McDees really has conjured up a sandwich filled with the chocolate-hazelnut spread that we all adore.  

    Unfortunately, the sweetened burger is only available in Italy.   But if you're a baller with a larger-than-life sweet tooth, this trip is a must!

  • Cozy Tapes Vol. 1

    What's good everyone!  I apologize for the lack of posts, but your boy is getting to the paper and I'm sure y'all ain't mad at that one bit.  

    Speaking of accumulating cash, the "Money Man" himself, ASAP Rocky, and his ASAP crew have finally unleashed their highly-anticipated sonic compilation, Cozy Tapes: Vo. 1 Friends-.  The ASAP Yams tribute consists of 12 scorching tracks and features an assortment of Hip Hop's brightest stars, including Tyler The Creator, Skepta, Lil Uzi Vert, Lil Yachty and more.

  • Kanye Accepts No Imitations

    Kanye West's confidence never cease to amaze us all.

    The notorious God complexed spitter recently had another '"stream of consciousness" moment during the Edmonton, Canada leg of his Saint Pablo tour.  After abruptly halting his energetic performance of "Freestyle 4," Yeezy belched out his deepest detest of rappers who are biting his stage setup.  "This the original. Accept no imitations. You with the rap God right now. Niggas be copying my shit bro. Stealing our shit, stealing stages. Copying our shit one-to-one," he states.

    A few blogs are speculating 'Ye is subliminally taking jabs at Drake, but I totally doubt it. The two rap MVPs are having way too much of a successful career to combat each other, plus they're supposedly working on a joint album.  Another suspect is South African Rapper Cassper Nyovest, who claimed to perform on a floating platform last year before Kanye. 

    We all know the popular saying "there is nothing new under the sun," and it certain applies to this *clears throat* messy situation.  Is Kanye responsible for globalizing the concept of an artist performing on a flashy, levitating stage? Possibly, but he may not be the very first person to actually produce one.  There might have been pre-mature attempts made by lesser known artists to wow their dedicated fans during a live performance.

    Now, the problem is finding them (haha).

  • OVO x Roots Fall 2016

    I don't know about you but when my eyes first laid on the campaign flicks of OVO 's latest collaboration with RootsI thought Drizzy's imprint was venturing off with the legendary hip-hop band, The Roots, to takeover the merch game (haha). Pardon my ignorance, I honestly had no clue about the thriving environmentally-friendly Canadian apparel brand until now.

    In any case, the two lifestyle clothing lines have teamed up once more to deliver a new capsule for the Fall 2016 season, which is out now.

  • Tell Them Why You Mad

    Solange made a perfect executive decision in featuring lyrical living legend Lil' Wayne on the hit single, "Mad," from her recently released Billboard topping album, A Seat at the Table.  Why you might ask? It's because Weezy has a whole lot of sh*t to be mad about in real life.

    Wayne and his Young Money Entertainment team has had an ongoing battle with their partner label Cash Money. Fans across the globe were shocked to realize the Young Money honcho was beefing with his "father figure" Birdman, but more importantly they all wanted to know why!

    Cortez Bryant, Lil' Wayne's longtime confidant and manager, paid a visit to Elliot Wilson's podcast Rap Radar to finally dish out the savory details which caused their unresolved dilemma with Cash Money kings, Baby and Slim.

  • RIP Tommy

    Actor Tommy Mikal Ford, famous for portraying the forever dapper bald-headed comrade of Martin Lawrence in Martin, has died yesterday at an Atlanta hospital due to a ruptured aneurysm in his abdomen.

    We never really pinpointed Tommy's exact "job" on the hit 90's TV show but he certainly made us all laugh whenever mentioned "it." Thats a commendable task in itself. 

    My condolences goes out to his close friends and family. 

  • Luke Cage Visits The Breakfast club

    The world has been going crazy over Netflix's power-punching new series Luke Cage.  As a matter of fact, the show literally broke the popular streaming site for two hours on Saturday, just one day after it's premiere!

    On September 30th, my fellow bald headed brother and Luke Cage star, Mike Colter, visited The Breakfast Club to speak on the "Black Actors Matter" episodic and even dropped some gems for individuals like myself who are basically doing anything they can (on their own) to prosper in the media/entertainment industry.

    Love being in shape but actually detest the tireless (and sometimes boring) process of it all? Then, this exercise is absolutely for you.

    Famed business publication, Insider, recently revealed the world's first ever augmented gaming climbing wall! The hand-griping vertical boulder features a slew of heart pumping games such as; Climbball and Spark.

    I'm suddenly inspired to get my climbing on after learning about this! Rather than the same old leg and arm routines at the gym, you'll be able to workout those same areas (and a few more) while stimulating your noggin' with an overload of fun.

  • Rocky's Return

    Whenever A$AP Rocky takes an unusual long pause from uploading colorful visuals of his rockstar lifestyle on Instagram, just know he's working on something reaaaally important.

    About a week ago ((week ago)), the self-proclaimed PMF briefly took to the popular social media app to showcase "pretty" paintings of himself wearing garments from his latest involvement with high-end luxury brands, Christian Dior and J.W Anderson.

    Rocky continues his return to the limelight with a feature on rising U.K producer Mura Masa's remixed single titled, "Love$ick."  Check out the vibrant tune below:

    That's not at all! Just a few hours ago, it was announced that the braided-up, fiery spitter is now the Creative Director for MTV and Viacom Velocity'in-house creative agency, MTV LABS. In this role, Rocky and his very own agency, AWGE, will have access to the company's cross-platform production capabilities to create original content; experiment with new formats and existing MTV IP; and develop branded content for advertisers with Viacom Velocity.
    Looks like we're about to see Rocky on a whole new level! Shout out to A$AP Ferg.
  • Purpose In The Youth: Yussuf Kassim Manzi

    Allow me to present the 5th episode of an inquisitive podcast by Bobby Hobert titled, Purpose In The Youth.

    Yussuf Kassim Manzi, one of my closest friends, was the featured guest and he spoke of his evolution as a fashion designer, appreciation for the smallest things in life and inspirations.  Furthermore, at the 28:30 mark Yussuf candidly talked about the fateful day we met, my impact on his life and the BAPE NYC store. You wouldn't want to miss this!

  • Spectacles

    Too busy concentrating on choosing the perfect filter for your next snap selfie?  If so, you might of brushed past the fact that Snapchat is no more!  

    Evan Spiegel, the company's 26 year old CEO, has renamed his voyeuristic brainchild to Snap, Inc.  “Snap Inc. is a camera company. We believe that reinventing the camera represents our greatest opportunity to improve the way people live and communicate. Our products empower people to express themselves, live in the moment, learn about the world, and have fun together,” says the company's website.

    With that out the way, allow me to introduce, Spectacles.  Created by Snap, Inc., the glasses feature a video camera with a 115-degree-angle lens positioned right next to your eyes – so every video is shot from your point of view. But unlike a GoPro or your smartphone camera, you don’t need to experience the world while holding a camera in front of your face. You simply tap the side of your Spectacles to initiate a 10-second video recording, and it is automatically transferred to the "Memories" section of your Snapchat app, where you can decide to use it or delete it at your convenience. 

    This new technology will have everyone saying "Look ma, no hands!"  From riding your bike to *clears throat* (let me know even go there), you will be able to capture yourself engaging in activities without actually being your own cameraman.

  • Brangelina Is No More

    I don't usually partake in celebrity gossip but this particular situation is truly worth my two-cents.

    According to TMZ, megastars Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are divorcing after 2 years of marriage and an impressive 12 years as a couple.  As expected, fans around the globe are expressing their sorrow on social media, stating that "love is officially dead."

    This is exactly why I'm speaking up.  I'm sorry to break it to you (see what I did there?) but unfortunately all things in this life of form cease to exist at some point in "time."  Nothing lasts forever, and yes that means even fairy-tale Hollywood relationships. 

    The only thing we can do is take care of ourselves and spread love without total attachment. Look, its easier said than done (trust me I know), but with less expectation, the more freedom we will have.

    Then again, what do I know right?

  • Kanye Finally Hits The Gram Button

    Those who tucked their phones away to fully enjoy the weekend, might of missed the "historical" news that Kanye West has finally launched an Instagram page.

    With already almost 900k followers (will probably be one million by the the time this is out), the man who feels like Pablo isn't taking any advice from anyone about what to post on his IG. Ye uploaded his first "artistic" piece yesterday of a scene from Arnold Schwarzenegger's 1990 sci-fi classic, Total Recall.

    Totally waiting to see what other visual wonder (or wrath) the "God" has in store for us on his new platform!

  • Allen Iverson Enters The NBA Hall of Fame

    Man listen, my allergies kicked in heavy while I was watching Allen Iverson's Hall of Fame Enshrinement speech.

    The Answer, was not only a huge inspiration in my short-lived high school basketball career, but life overall, as he encouraged me to be my purest self no matter what. Oh, and I can't forget the hair!  All of my best braid designs were inspired by A.I's meticulous hairdos (OG BAPE heads remember those days).

    Iverson, dressed in an all black suit, gave thanks to the many individuals who played a pivotal role in his remarkable career. Check out the speech in it's entirety below:

  • The Williams Family x Dean & Deluca

    As promised, here is the update on my article about Pharrell Williams partnering up with high-end grocery store chain, Dean & Deluca.

    It was recently revealed that the collaboration will also involve Skateboard P's family - his father Pharoah, in particular.  Titled, "The Williams Family Kitchen," the historical joint venture will feature a line of specialy food products, using Pharrell's pop's recipes.  

    Not only can devoted fans dress like the multitalented superstar, they'll be able to even eat like him too (at least when he was growing up).  Check out the clip below:

  • King of The Merch

    Kanye West admits he has a big ego, and apparently it served as his catalyst to become a megastar. From the College Dropout Bear to Yeezus, Ye's larger than life personas has captured the hearts and ears of fans across the globe. 

    The G.O.O.D Music maestro's biggest God complex yet, Saint Pablo, has truly transformed him into a King....of the merch that is. On September 5th, during the New York City leg of Kanye's Saint Pablo Tour at MSG, he pulled in a record-breaking $780,000 in merch sales!  This incredible feat has placed him ahead of Pope Francis himself, who sold $540,000 in memorabilia at the Garden last year.

    Looks like Yeezy not only jumped over the jumpman, but also effortlessly levitated over the Pope!

  • Ambush Design's First Store

    Back in the peak days of BAPE, my former boss Nigo created a Japanese Hip Hop supergroup named, Teriyaki Boyz.  The rap act consisted of Ilmari, Ryo-Z, Verbal, Wise, and even the former Ape General himself, who served as a DJ.

    The Teriyaki Boyz had an incredible run, collaborating with tons of legendary artists such as Jay Z, Kanye West and Pharrell.  I'm not totally sure if the group is still together, but what's definite is the ultimate rise of the lyrical clan's unofficial leader, Verbal.  The stylish spitter has transcended into a Japanese fashion icon!

  • Justin 'World Record' Bieber

    It wouldn't be a smart idea for me to delete my Instagram account in this stage of my career.  On the other hand, for Justin Bieber, cutting off the popular social media app promotes an inner peace of mind, which allows him to focus on more important things like breaking world records.

    The Scooter Braun managed crooner is now the proud recipient of not one, not five, but a whopping eight world records due to his success on Spotify and the Billboard charts, according to Guinness.  

    We were all obsessed with Justin's fourth studio album, Purpose, and it clearly shows in the numbers! Bieber's impressive tally of achievements in Guinness World Records' 2017 edition include: the most streamed track on Spotify in one week ("What Do You Mean?," 30.7 million times), as well as the most streamed album on Spotify in one week (Purpose, 205 million times), the most simultaneous tracks on the Billboard Hot 100 (17) in December 2015 and for being the first act to fill three top slots simultaneously on the U.K. singles chart: ("Love Yourself " (No. 1), "Sorry" (No. 2) and "What Do You Mean? " (No. 3).

    Biebs was also featured for having the most simultaneous new entries on the Billboard Hot 100 chart (13), the most Twitter followers (82.2 million) and YouTube subscribers of any male (20.7 million) and the most viewed YouTube music channel (10.4 billion).

  • Pharrell's Got Something Cookin'

    Pharrell Williams is the master of everything sound, style and even art.  You would think the megastar wouldn't have any more room on his plate of craftsmanship but guess again! Skateboard P is now showcasing his surprising talents in the kitchen.

    Earlier today, Pharrell went on Twitter to announce that he couldn't wait to share a project entitled, "The Williams Family Kitchen." Although the tweet was directed to upscale grocery store Dean & Deluca, no information was revealed on the nature of P's forthcoming venture.  Either way, I know its going to be delectable!

  • Loon's Lost Legacy

    To keep it clean, I honestly never knew Playboy offered equally salivating stories as their photographs of bodacious babes.

    For some odd reason,  this past week I've been thinking about the sudden disapearance of former Bad Boy star, Loon (Ok, I might of indulged in too much old school music videos).  It's been 3 years since we've last heard of the I Need A Girl spitter, when he was surprisingly handed A 14-year jail sentence for drug charges.

    Earlier today, I "accidently" ended up on Playboy's website and discovered a captivating article written by Thomas Golianopoulos on Chauncey Hawkins, who's now known as Amir Junaid Muhadith.  Nothing in life is a mere coincidence, so I'm truly grateful that the universe brought this to my attention.

    Amir's roller coaster life story could truly be made into a big box office hit!  Check it out for yourself HERE.

  • Scales

    To remain relevant in the music world, artists must continually reinvent themselves with original golden sounds that’ll have listeners begging for more.

    Rising Staten Island-bred spitter Cadeem Francis, better known as YF, is more than aware of such productive scheme.  This is why he deliberately took two years off to perfectly craft his art. With a fresh perspective on the game and an arsenal of new tunes, the 25-year-old lyricist has returned to the rap arena with a gruesome vengeance.

    I am proud to exclusively premiere YF’s comeback single, “Scales.” Produced by Ty Goods, the boisterous banger features an undisclosed crooner who undeniably blazed the hook.  I briefly spoke with the LWA (Leaders With Ambition) lyricist to gain a deeper understanding of his much awaited sonic release.

    FRENDY: How did “Scales” come about?

    YF: The record was made last year while I was in Austin, Texas for SXSW. One of my homeboys, Sadiq, introduced me to the singer who eventually ended up on the record. We were roommates for the week while I was in Texas. The vocalist was gone off the acid the first day we met--he was so high I wasn’t even able talk to him. We formally introduced ourselves later that evening. I played some beats and the instrumental for “Scales” stuck out.  He immediately freestyled the hook and that’s how the song came about. I already wrote my lyrics; it more so needed a solid hook, which the homie 100% provided.

    FRENDY: There are tons of drug references in the tune, is there a deeper meaning behind all of the intoxicating lyrics?

    YF: The song came together so perfectly because the majority of the people we stayed with in Austin were hardcore Trappers. The singer was definitely speaking from a buyer’s perspective because certain drugs help him create. As for me, I’ve seen how drugs work the majority of my life. It goes all the way back to Alberta, Virginia where I would stay for the summer to hang with my cousins when I was 14 years old.  My great uncle and my two aunts owned 4 trailers. I wasn’t allowed in one of them because that’s where all the “activity” took place. One day, my curiosity led me to walk in the restricted trailer.  My uncle Walter was there and he showed me everything--from coke to weed, pills etc. I can get deeper but that was the overall introduction.

    I witnessed my uncle sell drugs, which ultimately led him to serve 25 years in Jail.  Somehow he is still making money in the box (which I discuss in the second verse). Now I’m making music and learning how to make money off of it without lifting a finger. Everything was relatable so I had to talk about it in a record.  Basically, the chorus is dedicated to the users and the verses are for the dealers (haha).

    FRENDY: When can we hear more sounds from you? Will you be dropping a tape anytime soon?

    YF: You’re going to hear more sounds from me shortly. I recorded alot of music within the last two years.  I learned to not release all my bangers at once.  I’ll drop a full project depending on the reception of my forthcoming singles.

  • Atlanta (Official Trailer)

    Multi-talented thespian Donald Glover is taking his talents to Atlanta.

    That's right, the man known as Childish Gambino has payed homage to his place of origin by executive producing a new show on FX that bears the same name. Donald will also be starring in the episodic as "Earl," a loner who returns to his hometown of ATL, where he gets caught up in the local rap scene when his cousin, "Alfred Miles" (Brian Tyee Henry), becomes the next big thing.

    From the looks of the things, the show will be a perfect blend of comedy and drama.  After all, thats what Mr. Glover is all about!

  • Nike Quits The Clubs

    This post is dedicated to all my Golf enthusiasts out there.  Recently, Nike has announced that it will discontinue it's patented golf clubs, bags and balls (pause) to solely focus on developing apparel.

    Huge names on the golf greenery such as Tiger WoodsBrooks Koepka and Michelle Wie will have no choice but to look elsewhere for equipment.  Trevor Edwards, President of the Nike Brand, states "We’re committed to being the undisputed leader in golf footwear and apparel."  He further adds, "We will achieve this by investing in performance innovation for athletes and delivering sustainable profitable growth for Nike Golf.”

    I am sure this is incredible news for competiting golf equipment brands.  What are your thoughts?

  • The Making of Upfall

    On Saturday July 23rd, 2016 Shotta Spence held a listening party at Reed Space for his debut project, Upfall. Shame on you if you weren’t in attendance because the 20 year old New Jersey bred spitter surely proved that his passion for rapping isn’t a mere gimmick.

    A mélange of Spence’s hometown friends and exuberant new fans filled Jeff Staples lower east side inferno. Unfortunately, the store’s cooling system was down but that didn’t stop Shotta’s real supporters from turning up.

    The Ear Drummer affiliate’s mixtape boasts 15 original tracks, which are all produced by an assortment of outstanding beatmakers.  Spence’s awesome story-telling ability and melodic flow compliments the instrumentals greatly, making his very first effort into the hip-hop scene a commendable one.

    I recently sat down with the rising star to discuss the inner workings of Upfall and plans of leaving his mark in the game. Check out our conversation below:

    FRENDY: I’ve known you for about 8 years through BAPE. I truly didn’t know music was a passion of yours until you pleasantly surprised me with a freestyle at the shop, one year before my 2015 departure. When did your love of rhyming actually come about?

    SHOTTA SPENCE: I’ve been writing poetry since middle school and I started fucking around rapping in high school with my track teammates. I gave up on recording music sometime during high school and devoted more time to track and making clothes, but I continued to write throughout college whenever I had to get shit off my chest.

    FRENDY: What propelled you to take the craft seriously?

    SHOTTA SPENCE: When I was growing up I used to really look up to my boy Chino who was a rapper and like the flyest dude in my town. He was shot and killed in 2012 and that shit really pushed me to turn up with everything art-related that I was pursuing. Fast forward to 2014, I was in college struggling to keep my grades up while still designing, modeling, styling, doing whatever I could to get my name out there while looking for places to record. I was desperate to find a path out of school because I wasn’t going to last four years in that bitch. So school was fucking me up and then boom, I meet Mike Will while styling a Rae Sremmurd video. This was around my 19th birthday, which is how old Chino was when he passed, and I looked at it as a sign. I remember thinking, “you wanna do music? Here’s yo chance.”

    FRENDY: Initially, Fashion was your creative outlet. You built your very own "Spencer Lee" clothing line from the ground up, and even modeled for brands like PUMA and Yeezy. Was it hard to leave behind your budding career in the fashion industry to fully concentrate on being an artist?

    SHOTTA SPENCE: It wasn’t hard at all because music is really what I wanted to do. I viewed everything as stepping stones though. Doing all of the other shit helped me meet the right people and grow as a creative all around. What was hard though was leaving all of the people that I had been building with in order to focus more on my self.

    FRENDY: What’s the inspiration behind the name of your very first sonic compilation?

    SHOTTA SPENCE: The project is about greed, grinding selfishly and how it can cause you to lose sight of what you truly stand for. It’s also about how death can humble you and remind you of what’s really important, like the friends, family and hometown that’s supported you since day one. The project is really a story of falling off of my prideful throne and thinking it was my downfall, but realizing in the end it brought me closer to the things that really matter. Now I'm truly “up”. Also pay attention to all the times I say “fall” or “up” during the project.

    FRENDY: The rollout for Upfall was executed flawlessly. It’s quite an impressive feat for a rapper who seemingly fell from the sky. How long did it take you to fully complete the project?

    SHOTTA SPENCE: I can’t really say. From 2015 to now I was just writing and recording nonstop and these are the ones that fit together for the project. Most of the records on Upfall were made in 2015 and a few were made this year.

    FRENDY: How did your relationship with Mike Will Made-It come about? Was he helpful in the process of developing your debut?

    SHOTTA SPENCE: I met him while styling the Rae Sremmurd “Up Like Trump” music video. I got that opportunity from Max Hliva, the video director for Ear Drummers, who went to the same high school as me. At the shoot I remember meeting Mike and how we clicked from our first conversation. I remember him saying “damn you remind me of a young version of me bruh.” I was showing him all the clothes I put on Sremm for the video and explaining how I handmade most of my shit. So from that point on he knew me as a creative and he was bringing me with them to all the shows in NY while they were out there. Through Mike I met Aubz, who is the Eardrummer A&R and now my manager. One night in the club we were all twisted and Aubz caught me drunk freestyling and was like, "bro you should be an artist.” Nobody really knew that I was already making music then. I didn’t even tell Mike until one day he called me singing one of the songs I had did over a beat Aubz sent me. I was so gassed cus I remember when he called I was recording in my boy’s basement like “damn how can we make some shit good enough to show Mike.” Since then I just been going in and developing myself as an artist and I always look to Mike for his opinion and guidance on whatever I make. I wanted to do my first project on my own, so me and Mike don’t have any songs on Upfall, but I definitely soaked up a lot of knowledge and sauce just being around Mike and observing how he move and how he creates. I wouldn’t have been able to level up my music if I never met Mike.

    FRENDY: Where did you find all of the talented producers featured on the tape?

    SHOTTA SPENCE: Ducko Mcfli (White Collar), Childish Major (Hot Head/Momma’s Boy), Mike Larrry (Up) and Von Vuai (September) I met in Atlanta through Aubz. I never actually met Murphy Kid (What’s the Word, Nothing 2 Lose) but I got those beats from him through Aubz as well. Me and Kakuyon (Throne, All the Wrong Things) been close friends since elementary school and we ran track together in high school. I’ve also been close friends with Mohntra (Big Body, Getcha Own, Our Glass) since elementary school. All of the producers are ill and I can’t thank them enough for working with me. Producers are often under-appreciated and they deserve as much credit as the artist, if not more.

    FRENDY: What was your favorite track to make and why?

    SHOTTA SPENCE: Probably September. I made it on Chino’s death anniversary (9/27) so I really felt it while I was making it.

    FRENDY: Describe your particular sound in one word.

    SHOTTA SPENCE: Spirits.

    FRENDY: What are you planning to do now since you finally released Upfall? Already working on a new project?

    SHOTTA SPENCE: Yeah just working on the next projects. Other than that I’m gonna get some videos done for Upfall.

    FRENDY: I am proud of the man you are becoming. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

    SHOTTA SPENCE: Making better music, traveling, winning awards, packing out stadiums, putting my friends and family in great positions, doing charity work and continuing to work on my craft.

  • Smell Like Louis Vuitton

    Earlier this year, Balenciaga’s creative director, Demna Gvasalia, made a historically bold move by conducting the French fashion house’s first ever menswear show.  Louis Vuitton is also faithfully trotting into unfamiliar territory with the release of its first fragrance in 70 years.

    The luxury brand’s initial attempt to contrive scents was in the 1940’s, but unfortunately they fell short. LV is finally settling unfinished business this September by releasing, Les Parfums Louis Vuitton.  According to the International Business Times, LVMH will distribute it's 473 Louis Vuitton stores with fragrances.  All of them will come from a fragrance lab which will be led by master perfumer, Jacques Cavallier Belletrud, who is famous for concocting stellar smells like Acqua di Gio from Giorgio Armani and Issey Miyake’s L’Eau d’Issey.

    I know you all are thinking, "Will this joint smell like the leather of Louis Vuitton bags? "  Well, you are partly right! At least one of the fragrances will be infused with a note of leather.  You'll soon be able to freshly embody LV's monogram print without actually carrying one of their signature purses!

    Keep your eyes peeled for more information on the product's price as the release date approaches.

  • The Proof Is In The Tape

    Since the 2009 MTV Awards, there has been ongoing "tension" between Kanye West and Taylor Swift. Glimpses of peace among the two megastars were seen (mostly through photo ops), but behind the pearly white smiles, we all subconsciously knew that their kobe beef was a long way from being cooked.

    Less than a year after Taylor presented Kanye with the Video Vanguard Award at the 2015 VMAs, the 'All Falls Down' lyricist mentioned the famed pop singer in, "Famous", one of the most notable cuts from The Life of Pablo. The provocative line caused Swift to immediately defend her character by publicly stating she had no knowledge of being mentioned in the tune prior its release.  Mr. West , on the other hand, took to twitter where he shared his side of the story, tweeting that she actually knew of the song and controversial line.

    Fast forward to last night, Kim Kardashian West dropped a bombshell of a clip on snapchat, displaying her husband speaking on the phone with Taylor clearly asking for her permission to use the "I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex " line.  Check out Swift's rebuttal on lnstagram below:

    "Where is the video of Kanye telling me he was going to call me 'that bitch' in his song? It doesn't exist because it never happened. You don’t get to control someone's emotional response to being called 'that bitch' in front of the entire world. Of course I wanted to like the song. I wanted to believe Kanye when he told me that I would love the song. I wanted us to have a friendly relationship. He promised to play the song for me, but he never did. While I wanted to be supportive of Kanye on the phone call, you cannot 'approve' a song you haven't heard. Being falsely painted as a liar when I was never given the full story or played any part of the song is character assassination. I would very much like to be excluded from this narrative, one that I have never asked to be a part of, since 2009."

    As the drama unfolds to an all-time high, what are your thoughts on the new revelation?  Should we feel sorry for Taylor? or is Kanye in the clear for truthfully stating he did contact her before the song was released?

  • Cam'ron And Complex Goes On A Sneaker Date

    I just skimmed through the Youtube comments from the latest episode of Complex's sneaker shopping series with Joe La Puma, and it saddens me to see that many of today's younger kids have no clue who the featured celebrity guest is.

    I'm talking about Cam'ron, the legendary Dipset general that shifted rap culture with his magnetic flow and maverick sense of fashion. Times change, and of course one must go with life's flow, but knowing a bit of history doesn't hurt to better understand the future.

    In any case, Killa (yes, that's his nickname) went sneaker shopping at Stadium Goods in New york City with Joe to purchase some old school Reeboks.  Cam has a sneaker deal with the brand, so this stunt simply proved his unwavering loyalty.  Before copping the kicks, Mr. Giles spoke on his unusual balling sneakers, the fact that Jordans weren't 'chonologically numbered' growing up, and plans to release a new album.

  • New York City Ballet x Puma Activewear

    Sportwear brands are known for partnering up with the world's elite ball players.  Heck, even top notch thespians are getting in on the deal.  So would it be farfetched to think that ballet dancers could share a piece of the sporty action?

    Well, PUMA obviously doesn't! The German athletic multinational company is diving in the cultural and arts world by working with the distinguished New York City Ballet.  The dancers will be plié-ing in official offstage activewear sponsored by PUMA as soon as October 2016.  Dancing is techniqually a sport that requires an ample amount of dedication and discipline, so it's awesome to see these ballerinas get their rightful recognition.

  • Rae Sremmurd x Puma Campaign

    Congrats to Rae Sremmurd for being PUMA's latest brand ambassadors.

    As you may know, the German multinational athletic company already has enlisted a good batch of female celebrities (Kylie Jenner, YesJulz, Rihanna) to rep their brand, so it's pretty lit to have the fellas bring their two-of-a-kind energy on board.

    Swae Lee and Slim Jxmmi's first Puma campaign was shot by iconic Hip Hop Lensman Jamel Shabazz, who's known for capturing NYC street culture.  The duo wore track suits and several denim arrangments to perfectly compliment the 1968 Puma Suede classics on their feet.

  • Beef Patty Shoes

    Like Jamaican beef patty?  Of course.  Like them enough to rock a sneaker inspired by them?  If you answered no to the latter, then your love isn't deep as the crew of Alumni

    The Brooklyn based shop recently made a mouth watering shoe collaboration with FILA encouraged by.....you guessed it...beef patties!  Modeled after FILA's Overpass runner model, the pastry-influenced kicks feature a pigskin suede upper, a toe box that resembles the edge of an actual patty, and a white  sole in honor of the fluffy white coco bread usually used to make a bangin' sandwich.

  • R.I.P Bill Cunningham

    I never had the chance to meet Bill Cunningham on the streets of NYC, but I truly felt his spirit simply from hearing the wonderful stories told by those who were fortunate enough to be photographed by him. 

    Earlier today, it was announced that the legendary street-style lensman passed at the age of 87, due to complications after a recent stroke. For the past 40 years, Bill has magnificently captured the concrete jungle's most fashionable individuals and showcased them in The New York Times. My good friend Delroy Smith (who's been featured on the blog countless times) served as one of Mr. Cunningham's favorite muses.  Below are Delroy's words after hearing of his death:

    A$AP Rocky is currently Rap's "jiggy n*gga".  His undeniable talent, infections charm and style has won over the harshest critics not only in the music arena but the fashion field as well.

    The Harlem spitter's latest venture is with one of his favorite brands J.W.Anderson. Back in January, Rocky was seen wearing the Irish designer's pieces at the J.W.Anderson A/W 16 Menswear show.  He even sported a high neck zip jumper from Anderson's A/W 15 collection in his “Jukebox Joints” music video.  It's apparent that the love is real!

    The BeyHive surely rejoiced last night as their Queen won the CFDA's Fashion Icon award.

    Not only did Beyoncé look absolutely stunning in a bedazzled black Givenchy suit, with a wide brim hat, my imaginary baby momma (again, Jigga no disrespect) gave a magnificent acceptance speech that truly accented the many reasons why she is so deserving of such a prestigious honor.

Its effect on me actually started before I was born. Many of you guys don’t know this, but my grandmother was a seamstress. My grandparents did not have enough money, they could not afford my mother’s Catholic school tuition. So my grandmother sewed clothes for the priests and the nuns and made uniforms for the students in exchange for my mother’s education. She then passed this gift onto my mother and taught her how to sew.

  • The Roots Picnic Comes To NYC

    This Just in!  The Roots Picnic is heading to the Big Apple.

    The iconic Hip Hop band has been running it's beloved music festival in Philadelphia for about eight years.  I'm elated to see they are finally expanding it's awesomness to NYC.  The two day jamboree will take place in Bryant Park on October 10 through 11th and includes a slew of soulful acts.

    The Picnic's first day will be headlined by The Roots themselves, alongside D'Angelo and John Mayer. While the second night will showcase the Roots playing as the backing band for Wu-Tang Clan, David Byrne and legendary guitarist Nile Rodgers.

    Tickets go on sale this Friday at 10am on RootsPicnic.com.

  • G-Star Raw NYC Bike Tour

    G-Star Raw's fifth avenue flagship opening was truly a success and fortunately all of the festivities were captured on camera.

    It all kicked off with Pharrell Williams and his BMX crew (Nigel Sylvester, Joey Bada$$, Anthony DeRosa and many more) cruising to the brand's various NYC store locations.  The mini tour commenced in G-Star Raw's Williamsburg shop where DJ Clark Kent was doing his thang on the 1s and 2s. Then, the SoHo spot which held an event hosted by Joey and his Pro Era bro Kirk Knight.  Last but certainly not least, the crew ended their adventure at G-Star Raw's brand new fifth ave flagship.

  • G-Star Raw's New NYC Flagship Store

    Later today, G-Star Raw will debut it's NYC Flagship store at 475 Fith Avenue.

    If you're guessing that the company's newly appointed co-owner Pharrell Williams will be in attendance, then you're absolutely right.  The multi-talented mogul will be zig-zagging over to the city 's other G-Star locations (Williamsburg and SoHo) before heading to the official celebration of the Fith Avenue store at 8pm.

    If you cop something, you'll get to customize the merchandise with special G-Star scribbles exclusive to the event, as well as have the chance to win a limited-edition denim kimono crafted from Bionic Yarn, P’s company that transforms recycled plastic found in the ocean into denim.

  • The Plug

    As I was scrolling down Instagram's explorer page, I stumbled upon Kwame Boateng's trailer for his forthcoming series The Plug

    To keep it a buck, I really didn't know much about Kwame except that he was a good humored Hollywood socialite, but that alone persuaded me to dive a bit more into his eventful world.  As expected, the clip was awesome!

    The teaser included cameos from all of Boateng's superstar friends including Justin Bieber, Snoop Dogg, Drake and more.

    With all thats going on in Pharrell Williams' splendid life, I'm surprised he found the time to conjure up a new website with the assistance of creative conglomerate Five Hundred.

    Skateboard P is truly making his fans 'happy' by enabling them to create a custom card of their favorite work from him as soon as they enter the site.  What's 'dope' (damn, I'm on a roll here) about that is the membership card becomes part of the homepage.

    The interactive digital playground's clutch offering is it's vast archives of P's megahits, art, style, film and philantropy acts.

  • Sporty And Rich Issue No. 1

    Congrats to Complex cutie Emily Oberg for launching her very own print magazine.

    The multi-talented editorial empress is known for her Sporty & Rich lifestyle, so it was natural to transform the mantra into a tangible project for the world's enjoyment (f*ckboys included).

    The publication contains 60 pages of aesthetically pleasing pictorials, essays, interviews, fashion and architecture.  I would tell you to purchase a copy but they're all sold out.

  • Rules of the Game

    Pharrell Williams is forever pushing the artistic envelop!  P's latest project, titled "Rules of the Game", combined modern dance, art, and his very own musical composition into one beautiful showcase.  

    The one night event took place on May 17th at the Soluna International Music & Arts Festival in Dallas.  It involved David Arsham, famed choreographer Jonah Bokaer, 8 dancers, the Dallas Symphony Orchestra and Conducter David Campbell.  

    The exclusive showing's core inspiration was a 1921 Italian play by Luigi Pirandello, Six Characters in Search of an Author. As the title suggests, Pirandello's play explores the relationship between creator and creation, and the independent will that art can sometimes seem to possess.

    It's been a hot minute since we've heard any tunes from beautiful songbird Ameriie so it's truly a pleasure to finally see her back on the scene.

    Recently, the 1 Thing crooner sat down with Power 105.1's The Breakfast Club and discussed her mysterious dissapearance from the music industry, love of writing, marriage and exciting forthcoming projects.  

    The interview really reminds us why we fell in love with the biracial bombshell in the first place.  She's a vibrant spirit with ample talent yet still remains humble as ever.

  • Bad Service, No Problem

    Ever had the chance to actually shop in the Supreme store in NYC?  If so, you'll definitely be aware of the...let's say..lack of customer service from it's nonchalant employees.  Apparently, the same sentiment applies to the notorious skateboarding brand's LA location.

    Mere coincidence?  Hell nah!  It's supposed to be that way according to Supreme's creative director Angelo Baque.  In a recent interview with printed publication Marfa Journal, Angelo discussed the hostile vibe his store employees give off.  He states, "Skateboarding has never been nice. Let's make that clear. It started as an outsider thing, and skateboarders have always been assholes".  Damn, always wondered why I stopped skating--guess I was too nice of a person to subconsciously go down that treacherous path eh?

    Baque goes on to say that he has no problem with the unaproachable energy that his workers disperse. I know alot of you may be thinking, "why are so many kids and adults alike still f*ckin' with the brand then?".  All I can say to that is people love realness....and hype.  The combination of those two ingredients makes an enticing meal that is hard to turn down.

Future) on his latest album by stating, "Top 5 Top 5 Top 5 ". Ok, maybe he wasn't exactly talking about being on the list beforehand but that was dope how I tied everything in right?  

    In any case, The 6 God replaced 50 Cent as he garnered a net worth of a whopping $60 Million dollars!  The four artists above Drake are Diddy, Dr. Dre, Jay-Z and Mr. Respek himself Birdman.

  • "Rose Gold" Macbook

    For those that can't quite yet afford a Rollie, Apple just dropped a new product that can serve as a lavish accessory AND educational tool.

    Yup, Steve Jobs' former billion-dollar brainchild released a rose gold Macbook!  As most of you know, Apple previously unleashed a Rose gold Iphone 6s, so why not take it a step further this time around, right?

    The new Mac includes the latest Intel processors, offering up to 25 percent faster graphics performance, faster flash storage to speed-up app loading times, and an additional hour of battery life, bringing it up from 9 hours to 10.     That's right, Benjamin Kapelushnik is a God amongst men in the Sneaker reselling game.  The 16 year old wasn't lying when he said his business was booming either.  It is revealed that he has garnered up to a whopping $1 Million dollars in sales!

  • The Ye x Adidas Shoe That Never Was

    I was fortunate enough to work at BAPE NYC when they released their much praised Bapestas with Kanye West back in 2007.  Kids and adults alike were in a frenzy to get their hands on a pair!  Now imagine if Ye dropped a collaboration with Adidas Originals a year before that?

    Well, that thought isn't far fetched because the man known as Yeezus was actually in talks with Adidas Creative Consultant Gary Aspden to conjure up a joint sneaker that unfortunately never hit the market. Hey, everything happens when the times right and look at their situation now!

  • Soundcloud vs The World

    In the New York Times article, "Soundcloud Starts Subscription Plan, Taking on Spotify and Apple", author Ben Sisario discusses the emergence of the online music service's subscription plan.  This new program, called Soundcloud Go, allows consumers access to a wider range of music than what is available on competing services like Spotify and Apple.  Furthermore, it provides the artists as well as their record labels royalties.

    Since 2008, Soundcloud has been a free music platform for artists and listeners alike.  Due to the variation of songs, ranging from mash-ups and remixes made by dance DJ's to music from popular mainstream artists, the site was deemed as a "YouTube for music", and has attracted 175 million regular users.  Although the site was well received, major record labels were angry that the material wasn't licensed and for that reason paid no royalties.

    Soundcloud also faced many losses by providing a free service, "with hosting fees and a small amount of advertising as its only sources of revenue."  A few weeks ago, Soundcloud finally signed a licensing deal with Sony after a year of deliberate talks.  According to Sisario's article, the music industry is eager to promote paid streaming services because they pay much more in royalties than free versions.  

    Streaming is essential because that is the main source of generating the recording industry's income.  Soundcloud's new initiative fuels the competition between other music sreaming services like Spotify, Apple, Tidal, Rhapsody, YouTube, and Sirius XM, which all have a distinct way of streaming and obtain wide audiences.

    I personally was really surprised that Soundcloud chose to add a paid subscription plan because I was accustomed to it being free.  I sensed that the streaming service was changing during the past year, due to advertisements that were now being shown after a song was played.  I think Soundcloud Go is a great idea because it will allow people to hear a wider range of music without any ad intteruptions.  As a consumer, I can truly say that I am excited for Soundcloud's future.

    In usual blazing Hip Hop and R&B fashion, Hot 97 is gearing up to present it's acclaimed Summer Jam concert on June 5th.

    Today, the radio station revealed it's roster of artists that will be performing on the Festival Stage, which include Brooklyn rising stars Justine Skye and Desiigner, Dave East, Rotimi, Dougie F, Post Malone, Curren$y, Mr. New Toronto himself Tory Lanez, and ultralight beam spitter Chance The Rapper.

    The Stadium Stage lineup will be unveiled on Friday April 8th.  Tickets go on sale to the general public Saturday April 9th.

    DJ Khaled wasn't lying when he proclaimed that all he does is win!

    Earlier today, the We The Best Music Group mogul officially announced on Instagram that Jay Z is his manager (talk about cloth talk right?!).  I'm a spritual man that truly believes one receives what he puts out into the universe, so it's not a surprise that Khaled is reaping such gigantic blessings.

    Don't expect the motivational maestro to stay the same after this epic deal.  He changed.....ALOT.

  • Bryson Tiller In The Morning

    Recently, R&B's newest prince Bryson Tiller stopped by Hot 97 's Ebro In The Morning show to discuss his whirlwind of a life.

    Although no video of the interview surfaced (Bryson is serious with the 'mystery' aesthetics), Ebro unleashed an audio clip that provided much needed deets on the humble TrapSoul crooner's rise to glory, relationship with the OVO crew, performing at Radio City Music Hall, and hopes of having a comedy show.

  • BBC/Ice Cream Website's New Look

    I don't know how many of you noticed but Pharrell Williams' official BBC/Ice Cream website has a new look.

    Featured on it's homepage is a black and white photograph of a stylish Billionaire boy, cladded with an actual Astronaut helmet. Also, the corresponding sections on the site are plastered with an intergalactic camo background to accent the brand's spacey theme.  Looks great!

    Since we're here, I might as well plug in Brett Bino's debut single TIMIN' which mentions Skateboard P and his iconic clothing line.  Indulge in it below if you haven't done so already :

  • Snoop Dogg Endorses Burger King Grilled Dogs

    Kudos to Burger King for their sensational new grilled dogs ad featuring none other than the biggest K9 of them all, Snoop D O Double G.

    The commercial serves as an 'employee instructional' video that takes places in the heat of a Burger King kitchen, featuring the Dogg father meticulously explaining how BK's hot dogs are made. Furthermore, the sprinkling of a few "thugged out" workers from the burger joint took the clip to even funnier heights!

    Get your taste buds ready because the grilled dogs arrival at Burger King takes place next week on February 23rd.  For now check out it's promotion below:

  • Mr. Big Shot's Detroit Pistons Jersey Retires

    One of the NBA's clutchest players Chauncey Billups was honored by the Detroit Pistons organization on Wednesday evening.  The team retired his infamous number 1 jersey during their game against the Denver Nuggets (which they lost, unfortunately).

    Alot of you wise guys joke around saying I resemble Chauncey, but hey the former all star is forever immortalized by the league so I ain't flippin' one bit about our bald-headedness comparisons (haha).

  • Val Mercado Joins Univision

    Congrats to the homie Val Mercado for her new gig with Univision!

    The instagram supermodel is not just a feast for sore eyes, she actually has an equally intriguing mind, graduating with a Broadcast Journalism degree from York College in Queens.  Yesterday, Univision Digital, the digital division of Univision Communications Inc. (UCI), declared the addition of Val and Youtube sensation, Josh Leyva, to their Univision Creator's Network. The UCN is filled with content producers from various social media platforms and garners more than 140M views each month—a 20% increase from when it first launched just over six months ago.

    Furthermore, the selected multi-cultural creators are provided with a community of support including access to industry experts, collaboration opportunities, and enables them to expand their audiences and brands across various ecosystems—such as TV, digital, radio and live events.

  • New Snack Alert

    The mad scientists at Nabisco have conjured up a new flavor just in time for your post Super Bowl 50 celebration!

    As you know, the infamous cookie company has a knack for creating the most random (yet delicious) oreo fillings and this time around it gets even more mind-boggling.  Allow me to introduce the "Filled Cupcake" edition, which features the Oreo's traditional chocolate wafers, but instead of a vanilla creme center, it's filled with chocolate frosting and vanilla cream in the center.

    Be sure to cop the limited snack when they hit your neighborhood supermarket shelves on February 8th.

  • McDonald's Chocolate Covered Fries

    Japan is known for being the lead innovator in all things technology, fashion and even food.  A few months ago, I wrote an article on the Black Burger that was created by all of the McDonald's in the Far East Asian island. It's only right that they now introduce chocolate covered fries!

    We all do love the weird concoction of sweet and salty treats, so the world's largest hamburger joint thought it would be a delight to smother chocolate sauce and white milk chocolate on it's infamous fries.

    The McChoco Potato will be available across Japan beginning Jan. 26.

  • OTHERtone with Aziz & Khaled

    Allow me to present my favorite episode thus far from Pharrell Williams & Scott Vener's OTHERtone Beats 1 radio show.

    The segment featured Master of None's co-creator and hysterical comedian Aziz Ansari alongside internationally acclaimed musician DJ Khaled.  As you can imagine, tons of inspirational gems were dropped!

  • Barbie Flavors

    Remember your reaction when you started seeing most slim white girls get super thick out of nowhere?  Well, the exact sentiment will be had upon the sight of the upgraded Barbie dolls!

    Mattel, the American toy manufacturing company that gave birth to the iconic feminine figurines, announced that the dolls will come in not one but three new shapes: tall, petite, and my personal favorite curvy (haha).  

    The new & improved reconstructed playthings will be available to purchase on January 28th online, exclusively at Mattel shop, alongside the original slender ting Barbie doll.

    Damn, I guess after Travis Scott got his very own action figure, the higher ups figured he might as well have some more playhouse fun.

  • Yams Day (Pics)

    Last night, the first annual Yams Day concert celebration went down at NYC's Terminal 5 and it was certainly a blast.

    The homie Infanint captured some epic flicks of the performances (you might of seen him floating around during the show's Yahoo livestream) and even backstage shenanigans.  Check them out below:

  • The Dame Dash Show

    The guy that everyone loves to hate is coming to a speaker near you!

    Just when you thought you couldn't get enough of Damon Dash's antics, he launches his very own talk show on Dash Radio.  Debuting on January 21st at 7pm, the broadcast will air once a week featuring Jay Z's former confidant's industry friends and thriving entrepreneurs.

    The infamous champagne-on-model-spiller is the definition of an evil genius.  Dame's business ideologies are brilliant and contributions to Hip Hop are commendable.  It's his larger-than-the-universe ego that gets him in heated situations.  Tune in to see what he gets into next (haha).

  • GuyFi

    Just when you thought the concrete jungle couldn't get any wilder, inhabitants are now able to masterbate openly!

    I'm not joking either. This week, London based-sex toy company Hot Octopuss premiered it's GuyFi male "stress" relief booths in the city.  HO's co-founder Adam Lewis states, "There’s no denying that working a nine to five job can be stressful on both your mind and body, especially in a non-stop city like Manhattan. It’s really important for guys to look after themselves so that they can stay healthy and focus properly on the task in hand. We’re told time and time again how beneficial it is to have a break away from your desk."

    We all know what type of relief he's talking about, but rubbing one out so openly can still cause a little stress, no?  If you get your business taken care of in a bathroom stall, at least no one could really know what went down.  But out in the streets, sheesh, God forbid one of your "homies" decide to blackmail you with some incriminating footage (haha).

    I rather keep my freakiness in the sheets and not in the streets (literally).  What do you think about all of this?

  • Get Sweaty With Emily Oberg

    On the latest episode of Get Sweaty W/ Emily Oberg, the one and only DJ Khaled serves as the special guest who gets whipped into shape.

    To be honest, the motivational, multi-platinum status Disc Jockey is no stranger to working out his physical (or mental), but it's a real treat to watch him get down and dirty with the broadcast babe.  Despite it being Emily's show, Khaled proves that he has the keys as he introduces her to his "We The Best" workouts - which includes some calorie burning elliptical talk and meditation.

    By the way, this is all taking place in the inspirational DJ's luxurious Miami mansion.  You don't even have to watch the clip to know that this is Emily's biggest segment yet.  She's most definitely smart for setting this one up.

  • Uncle Ander

    There are no words to fully describe the euphoric feeling of witnessing one of your own living out their dreams.

    I’ve known Aaron Jakubenko, the brother of my friend JOSH JAKQ, for about 6 years and his progression as an actor is truly one to behold.  In fact, Aaron and I started our pursuit of acting around the same time. While working at BAPE and going to auditions, the Australian thespian was taking acting courses. 

    After garnering a few commercial gigs and appearances on ABC' s award-winning soap opera One Life To Live, my acting run decreased due to the unbelievable AFTRA/SAG Union strikes.  During such tragic time of no casting calls, I took power into my own hands and accented my gift of writing. Thankfully, my talent enabled me to gain recognition from people all over the world. I was even featured on Forbes!  Aaron on the other hand, has skyrocketed to become a television legend -– landing guest role appearances on Australia’s longest-running drama series Neighbours, StarzSpartacus and now MTV ’s latest blockbuster sci-fi series The Shannara Chronicles.

    Aaron isn't just any character on the Terry Brooks inspired television show, he landed the coveted role of Ander Elessedil, the uncle of Amberle Elessedil.  She is the only person that can save a magical tree that protects the mystical world of the Four Lands from demon entities. I could go on a rant about the story's plot but I'll leave it up to you to do more research.  Just know *DJ Khaled voice* that Aaron is a key player in the epic tale.

    My Aussie brother is definitely the next superstar from the land down under.  Those Hemsworth fellas better watch out!

  • DJ Khaled's New Pad

    Dj Khaled's keys to success has allowed him to purchase a whopping 3.8 million dollar mansion in Miami!

    I didn't stutter, according to TMZ, everyone's favorite motivating disc jockey copped the grandiose crib to commemorate his 40th birthday.  If there's anyone in the entertainment industry that deserves an abundance of accolades it's definitely We The Best Music Group's head honcho.  Khaled been in the game for 25 years, grinding from the crates to now having numerous jams all over Billboard, so virtually no one can hate.

    Unfortunately, the "theys" of the world still exist, but as we all can see, he is overcoming them all!

  • LION

    DJ Khaled could announce that he’ll be running for president tomorrow and still win (that’s all he does anyways).

    What makes the Miami-based superstar producer so loveable is not only due to his nact of curating addicting anthems but also the motivation and knowledge he spreads via social media. If you’re not following him on Snapchat right now then you must not own a cellphone!  On it, Khaled dishes out major keys to live a successful life. Furthermore, we get the luxury of witnessing his happenings outside of the studio— from drowning exotic plants with water (and love) to the numerous renegade jetski adventures.

    While filming her forthcoming episode of Get Sweaty with the Finga Lickin’ owner, Complex star Emily Oberg took a quick break to properly digest his “Pathway to more success” ideologies.

  • Road To Homecoming: Episode 2

    We're just 2 days away from Christmas but J. Cole couldn't resist to gift us early with the second episode of his HBO collaborative documentary series Forest Hills Drive: Road To Homecoming.

    The deuxième installment, titled Ain't Nothin' Like That, provides us with a candid look at the tedious backstage (and tour bus) happenings that facilitate an unforgettable Cole show.  Furthermore, We even witness Jermaine finally getting the physical copy of his college diploma after a whopping 8 years. Hey, you can't blame the guy, only thing that truly mattered is that he graduated!

  • NBA Store's New Location

    Man, writing this story makes me reminisce of the days working at the NBA Store

    For those not in the know, before I landed my position at BAPE, the official New York City shop dedicated to all things basketball was my place of employment for about a year.  I had some great times there and met awesome individuals that inspired me to advance in life.

    Months after I left the job, the shop moved it’s location to a smaller, less enticing venue.  Luckily, I just received news that it transfered to a new spot located on 545 Fifth Avenue. I'll definitely be visiting and will certainly let y'all know if it's worth taking a look!

  • Yams Day

    The A$AP gang is kicking off 2016 in heavenly fashion by conducting a concert in memory of their late mob leader A$AP Yams.

    The celebration, going down at NYC's Terminal 5 on January 18th, will feature The PMF himself A$AP Rocky, A$AP MobJoey Bada$$, Lil' Uzi Vert and an array of special guests. Unfortunately, the concert is already sold out but I'm sure many die hard fans will somehow sneak their way up in the venue!

    Vogue just revealed the 44 stars to watch in it's January 2016 issue.

    The coveted list features familiar faces in the world of everything entertainment including Beyonce's favorite dancing duo Les Twins, Donald Glover as well as breakout artists Justine Skye and Beasts of No Nation's Ghanaian actor Abraham Attah.
