Yeah, That's My Dawg

May 31, 2024 by Frendy Lemorin in Fashion

Before his death in 1786, the late military leader Frederick The Great stated, “the only, absolute and best friend a man has, in this selfish world, the only one that will not betray or deny him, is his dog.” Those incredibly earnest words have echoed throughout history and still remain relevant til this day in an even simpler form: “a dog is a man’s best friend.”  Well, Pharrell Williams’ Spring/Summer 2025 Men’s Pre-collection with Louis Vuitton is offering doggy lovers worldwide a new and stylish method of strengthening the bond with their four-legged pals.

The DOG LVRS collection lookbook showcases “dandy dog walkers” (that’s what the luxury French fashion house call them) in swaggy LV garbs with their fresh pooches (R.I.P to Cudi’s dog, Freshie). So many incredible threads are featured including tailored shorts, fluffy kicks patterned with Dalmatian dots, Canadian tuxedos, dog crest shirting, loafers with bone-charm collar detailing, a double-dog portrait silk souvenir jacket, dog portrait bandanas, LV-branded leather jackets, relaxed tracksuits, hoodies and wool trench coats. What made this spectacle even more special are the dogs accessories—most noticeably a Louis Vuitton monogram-covered dog house with gold trims!

Leader of The Delinquents

April 15, 2020 by Frendy Lemorin in Music

“Cudi: hmmmm, Everyone: this nigga spitting!” Aw man, the jokes about Scott’s immaculate hums never gets old! In his latest sonic offering, “Leader of The Delinquents,” Mr. ‘Beautiful Morning’ kicked off the track with his infamous low, steady continuous sounds, which eventually led us to some equally potent (and revealing) lyrics.

The cello-filled tune is Mescudi’s first solo single in a whopping four years!  Although “Leader of The Delinquents,” dates all the way back to 2012, it is easily relatable to our current reality. In one bar he spits, “gotta smack em with some shit before the world ends.”

The world is far from ending, but we certainly are shifting into a new paradigm. What an exciting time to be alive! With that said, check out Cudder’s latest bop below:

Q & Cudi Are Dangerous

June 26, 2019 by Frendy Lemorin in Music

Kid Cudi can effortlessly body a hook whether he’s had a ‘beautiful morning’ (exemplified on Kanye West’s “Father Stretch My Hands Pt. 1”), or woke up on the wrong side of the bed.  Scott clearly showcased the latter on Schoolboy Q’s menacing, Crash Talk standout cut, “Dangerous.”

The single, which lasts slightly above two-minutes and thirty-seconds, starts off with Cudi doing what he does best, singing: “I’m feeling dangerous/I’m feeling nauseous. Road left me crazy, soaring, I wanna….” Man, Q had to think that crooning was phenomenal since he let him kick off his own record.  The TDE vet accented its despondent vibe with his somber, yet poetic delivery.

Red Table Talk W/ Kid Cudi

December 17, 2018 by Frendy Lemorin

Mr. Rager himself, Kid Cudi is the latest guest on Red Table Talk, starring Jada Pinkett Smith, Willow Smith and Adrienne Banfield-Norris.  The Facebook sponsored American web series is known for its intimate conversations with some of the industry’s most influential figures. This particular episode touches on mental illness and addiction.

Aside from cooking up groundbreaking tunes, Cudi was known as the jokester during my time working with him at BAPE.  One would of never thought he was dealing with inner demons—especially after his skyrocketing success in the music and television industry.  “Well, That’s where most of the bad stuff came in because I had to live up to be this person,” Scott states after he was asked about being the hero of an entire generation. “It’s like doing a comedy, but you’re miserable. It’s like my life was this show and I was always supposed to be on.”

Furthermore, the former “How To Make It In America” star spoke of how he used drugs during his depression as an escape because no one was there to mentor him.

Fortunately, Cudi has been off cocaine for about two years and is now looking to consistently hum his way back into the hearts of adoring fans.  While you’re waiting for some new entrancing tunes, check out the clip below:

Stop Trying To Be God

August 07, 2018 by Frendy Lemorin in Music

Travis Scott wasted no time to unleash the cinematic clip for his Astroworld cut "Stop Trying To Be God."  Truth be told, I haven't heard the Houston emcee's latest offering yet, but from the sound of the aforementioned song, it seems promising.

As soon as my ears picked up on Cudi's heavenly hums, I knew this particular track would be awesome.  Also featuring James Blake, Earth, Wind & Fire's Philip Bailey and the legendary Stevie Wonder on harmonica, the mellow tune is all about Scott's budding god complex.

Directed by Dave Meyers, the song's accompanying visual showcases a plethora of biblical imagery.  Check out the madness below:

The Rage

April 13, 2018 by Frendy Lemorin in Music

Aww man, it's always great to hear Cudi back at it again spitting potent bars on atmospheric beats.  Although Scott's latest tune titled, "The Rage," is found on the soundtrack of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's latest movie Rampage, it could easily be a bonus track in any of his iconic albums.

The single, produced by Ben Billions and Kid Cudi's longtime buddy and collaborator Dot Da Genius, samples the legendary alternative rock group The Smashing Pumpkins' classic 1995 track, "Bullet With Butterfly Wings."  If Cudi plans to drop more songs like this in the near future, his next project is sure to be one for the ages!
