Magazines

December 15, 2020 by Frendy Lemorin in Music

This site is slowly but surely turning into an R&B blog...and I don’t mind one bit (duh, it’s mine). Music is something I hold near and dear to my heart and whenever I stumble upon a track that penetrates my soul, there’s no choice but for me to share it. Fortunately, we have similar upper echelon taste in sounds so it’s a win-win situation. With that said, meet Emanuel.

The rising Toronto-based crooner recently released his sophomore EP titled, Alt Therapy Session 2: Transformation, and like its title suggests, will alleviate any stress caused by this year’s pandemic lockdown. Consisting of four sincere songs, Emanuel’s latest project follows his stellar debut, Alt Therapy Session 1: Disillusion, which was released only five months ago. “I equate the sessions to my seasons in life,” he tells Atwood Magazine. “Titles like ‘Disillusion’ and ‘Transformation’ represent the obstacles and triumphs of this testimonial. I think the end goal is to really have an alt ‘therapy session’ with the listeners. Telling my story as best as I can with the hope of connecting and for it to be something people can relate to.”

Session 2 is all about self-love and empathy. My absolute favorite track from the incredible compilation is “Magazines,” which showcases Emanuel's smooth buttery tone as he displays his affection for a shorty he’s in a toxic relationship with. “So in that dark place, I was trying to iterate the way that I felt, while still talking from that foolish-heart perspective and just going with the flow and allowing things to unravel in a negative way.” Can you relate?

Listen to its awesomeness below:

A Night At The Museum

April 11, 2020 by Frendy Lemorin in Contributing Writers

Hello everyone, it’s Goldie!  I hope everyone is doing things they enjoy during quarantine. An activity that I found myself doing is visiting various museums in Europe. Yes, you read that correctly! (haha). Thanks to Ruth Doherty’s article over at Housebeautiful.com, I’ve discovered 11 of the best virtual museum and art gallery tours. These museums include Le Musée du Louvre and Musée d'Orsay in Paris, The Metropolitan Museum of New York, and The Natural History Museum of London.

My favorite museum that I’ve visited has to be Le Musée du Louvre. The first time I’ve virtually experienced this iconic site is through The Carters’ aesthetically pleasing video for “APESHIT.” The way that the institution was captured with its wide shots and cinematography made me feel like I was actually there.

Thankfully, my longing to see the museum has been satisfied. Got an art fix? Click this link (https://www.housebeautiful.com/uk/lifestyle/g31911114/virtual-tours-museum-art-galleries/) and go visit these amazing places. But first and most importantly, get your favorite beverage (mine happens to be vanilla chai black tea with almond milk) or snack, sit back, relax, and visit these grand galleries from the comfort of your home.

The Lion King (Trailer)

November 27, 2018 by Frendy Lemorin in TV & Movies

“Nants ingonyama bagithi baba!!” The Lion King is arguably the greatest movie ever made.  Disney’s classic animated film initially released in 1994 when I wasn’t able to speak English fluently. Despite the annoying language barrier, the Don Hanh-produced masterpiece was still able to move me in ways that transcended time and thought by its enchanting storyline and spirit-lifting hymns.  When I heard there was a live action remake in the works my younger self was back-flipping for joy, now I’m ecstatic to present its very first trailer.

Premiered on Thanksgiving Day, the CGI teaser accurately displays the opening of Disney’s 32nd animated feature where Simba is raised by Rafiki on Pride Rock to the kingdom’s animals.  Fortunately, my man James Earl Jones will reprise his role as Mufasa (he was born for that part), alongside a star-studded cast featuring Donald Glover, Beyonce, Chiwetel Ejiofor and many more.  Additionally, Elton John and Hans Zimmer are returning to fine tune the movie’s magical soundtrack.

Disney’s nostalgic Lion King remake will be released in theaters on July 19, 2019.  For now, check out the trailer below:

Jay-Z's Got The Keys

September 19, 2018 by Frendy Lemorin in Lifestyle, Music

DJ Khaled couldn’t have made a better choice than enlisting Jay-Z to lay down his meticulous bars on “I Got The Keys,” featuring Future. To keep it a buck, I really didn’t like the song—the hook was a bit much—but I did appreciate Jigga Man’s boss talk! If I had to listen to anyone in the Hip-Hop industry rap about having “keys,” it would be Bey’s boo. Heck, the man seemingly has a cheat code to life, and his latest achievement makes yet another valid case for that assumption.

On Monday, Jay and Beyoncé received the Key to the City of New Orleans for their humanitarian work. While on their On The Run II tour stop in the Big Easy, the ballerific couple was surprised by New Orleans’ mayor LaToya Cantrell with the acknowledgment. “The Carters recently launched scholarship funds that will benefit cities on their tour,” writes mayor Cantrell under an Instagram photo of herself and Mr. Carter smiling with the framed key. “The #CityofYes embraces you both with love!.”

Damn, I don’t even think Master P got one of those bad boys yet from his hometown. Should he be concerned?
