So Bad

January 25, 2023 by Frendy Lemorin in Music

Valentine’s Day is less than a month away and I know a lot of you are dotting the i’s and crossing the t’s on your romantic plans. If for some odd reason the playlist for y’all *clears throat* make-out sesh isn’t complete, allow me to suggest a tune that’ll enhance the mood for such intimate experience.

Aptly titled, “So Bad,” by multi-talented musician St. Panther, the song is dedicated to the lovers who cannot go one day without seeing each other. No cap, that was the case for me and my first love. I saw her every…single…day during the summer we first met (honeymoon phase much?).

There’s not much to say about this song because its heavenly vibes are so profound.  St. Panther, whose real name is Daniela Bojorges-Giraldo, showcases her hypnotic, soulful tone over an equally captivating beat which provides all of the feels.

Indulge below:

Infrunami

February 26, 2021 by Frendy Lemorin in Music

Valentine’s Day was less than two weeks ago, yet I’m pretty sure most of you lovebirds have already fallen out of your cozy nests.  Have no fear, Steve Lacy is here to help y’all pick up the broken pieces of your pretty little wings and heart.

Titled “Infrunami,” Lacy’s emotional number is filled with soul-piercing chords that’ll tame the wildest beast in any detrimental relationship *gasps*. The song is just under two-minutes, and quite honestly, incomplete but it will undoubtedly fulfill its mission in unification. “Girl you’re the one I want / You’re the one I need / I’m begging you, please? / Can you come back to me / ‘Cause I was blind to see / That you were right in front of me,” croons the 22-year-old multi-hyphenate musician.  There are certain sections of the jam that are vocal-less so you can get your sh*t off.  From rapping, singing, all the way down to scatting you have the opportunity to show your mate why she/he/they need to be in your world. Make it count!

“Infrunami,” is found on Steve’s self-produced, Garageband app-made collection of unused songs dubbed as The Lo-Fis (pretty impressive right?). Check out the demos on Soundcloud.

2020 Quarantine Mix

March 17, 2020 by Frendy Lemorin in Contributing Writers, Music

Hey everyone! It’s Goldie and I’m back with a playlist that’ll guarantee to lift your spirits from what’s been currently happening in the world. Music has the magical ability to help us heal from any situation and through this playlist, I aspire to pour out love, light, and high vibrations to your ears during this trying time.

This playlist is categorized in three parts. The first part consists of Spring Feels. The first six songs invoke a gentle and sunny feel to the heart, making you feel lighthearted and airy. The second part of the playlist is called Reclaiming your own power. These three songs all have a common message: You are capable of accomplishing any dreams or goals you have. Nothing can stop you. Lastly, the songs that follow are Songs that make you move. You deserve to enjoy yourself even in a time like this and these songs definitely remind you of that.

I hope you all feel empowered by my musical recommendations. We are in this together.

Love Is The New Money

January 15, 2020 by Frendy Lemorin in Music

“We got love, love, love. You better believe it.”

There’s nothing more soothing than an incredible song with an equally powerful message. Teyana Taylor’s “We Got Love,” is a clear example of such riveting tune.

The minimalist track, rightfully produced by the Kanye West we all adored, was initially scheduled to appear on Teyana’s sophomore album K.T.S.E, but didn’t make the cut due to clearance issues (The chorus features a sample of The Younghearts). Fortunately, there are rumblings that the song will find a spot on the Harlem songstress’ forthcoming project The Album (yes, that’s the name of the...you get the drift), which is due for release in early 2020.

Ye and Tey actually shot a video for this scorcher last year, yet it is nowhere to be found. Hey, at least we can still rock out to it with our lit sage on deck.
